Rostra’s Choice: The Power of Habit

Title: The Power of Habit: Why we do what we do and how to change

Writer: Charles Duhigg

Year of Publication: 2013

Review: Charles Duhigg is an investigative reporter for the legendary New York Times. In this book, he takes his readers through case studies and real-life experiences revolving around the Habit Loop. Duhigg argues that identifying and modifying the Habit Loop (which includes a cue, a reward and a routine) is key to transforming a variety of situations, ranging from our personal lives to the performance of large multi-national companies. He includes intriguing scientific research and rationales to defend his findings. This book will make you self-reflect and is recommended for those wanting to understand their habits and creating better ones, or for those simply interested in any area of psychology, including leadership and corporate psychology.
